IPCC: Ship of Fools

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations network of 2,000 scientists, has issued two reports on the impacts of global warming.[1]

These two reports, crafted by about two dozen individuals, spelled out gloom and doom scenarios that have energized many activists around the World. The trouble is, the IPPC activity is mostly an exercise in politics backed more by conviction than by science.

There have been many objections to the panel's work from the scientific community. Undeterred, the IPCC and their supporters plough on…

The plan…lays out ways of dealing with those impacts.
The draft of the third report [the plan—Ed.] says the world must quickly embrace a basket of technological options _ already available and being developed _ just to keep the temperature rise to 3.6 degrees.

…like a Ship of Fools.

What's up with him?

Huckabee's Son Arrested With Handgun [1]
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - David Huckabee, a son of Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, was arrested at an Arkansas airport Thursday after a federal X-ray technician detected a loaded Glock pistol in his carry-on luggage.

So, what is up with him? Sure, he had a concealed, carry permit. But, even the most bone-headed of people know that permit doesn't extend beyond their home jurisdiction.

So, what is up with him trying to get on a plane with a loaded pistol?

Is there a percieved class distinction amongst a certain set who believe they are above the laws of the land?

If you have a better explanation, leave a comment. Enquiring minds want to know.

Democratic Inquisition rolls on

Ranger Alleges Cover-Up in Tillman Case [1]

The details behind Cpl. Tillman's death in Afghanistan and Pvt. Lynch's rescue in Iraq are fraudulent! Fraudulent, I tell you!

The revelation came as committee members questioned whether, and when, top Defense officials and the White House knew that Tillman's death in eastern Afghanistan three years ago was actually a result of gunfire from fellow U.S. soldiers. The committee also heard from Jessica Lynch, the former Army private who was badly injured when her convoy was ambushed in Iraq in 2003. She was later rescued by American troops from an Iraqi hospital, but the tale of her ambush was changed into a story of heroism on her part

That's the story. We would never have suspected except for the heroic efforts of Public Servant, Rep. Henry Waxman, and his unselfish devotion to the Democratic Inquisition House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Well done, Rep. Waxman, for your Service to the People and the Nation.

Correction, Charles

 (AP Photo/Haraz N. Ghanbari)
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., speaks about the Iraq War during an event hosted by Third Way and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Monday, April 23, 2007, in Washington. Reid says Congress will soon pass an Iraq war spending bill that calls for a withdrawal of U.S. troops to start by October first, a says the legislation will be approved within days.

Tonight, on Special Report w/ Brit Hume, Charles Krauthammer responded to Reid's comments saying "The Democrats have totally capitulated to the Far Left."

Potbelly Stove would like to point out to Mr. Krauthammer, on faint chance that he missed it, that Sen. Reid not only represents the Far Left but he is a member in good standing.

Memo to General Patraeus

General Patraeus,Sir. With all due respect, WTF?

Sunni Struggle Claims 4th Fallujah Chief [1]
BAGHDAD - The Fallujah city council chairman, a critic of al-Qaida who took the job after his three predecessors were assassinated, was killed on Saturday, the latest blow in a violent internal Sunni struggle for control of an insurgent stronghold west of Baghdad.

These people are patriots standing up for their country. It's not enough to lament their sacrificial service. We must give them a modicum of protection.

You have your orders, General. Make it so. (hand salute)

His CO is the jerk

Bush Pushes His Version of Iraq War Bill [link]
Outside the school, Julia Goodman, 40, of Riverside, was among five protesters. She said her family was told Wednesday that her nephew's Humvee had been hit by an explosive device in Iraq. "He's lost his hearing," she said. "This is the fourth time he's been injured over there and has yet to get a Purple Heart," Goodman said. "That's one reason why I'm really angry about this whole thing going on. These boys are over there and fighting and they're not getting any recognition for what they're going."

Don't blame the President. Your son's CO is the jerk.

Besides, not getting a Purple Heart medal is no big deal. My little brother didn't care though he carries NVA shrapnel in his leg to this day.

If this really bothers you, do something real. Take it up with your Senator and your Representative.

Put a fork into him

Gonzales Struggles to Sway Skeptics [link}
WASHINGTON - Attorney General Alberto Gonzales struggled Thursday to convince skeptical senators he did nothing improper in firing eight federal prosecutors, losing ground as a second senator from his own party joined the calls for his resignation.

And, it should not have been a struggle. Federal prosecutors can be let go for any reason or none at all. The fact that Gonzales is acting like a defendant suggests he does not realize this. As such, he is incompetent and should be let go.

Put a fork into him. I think he's done.
